Navigating Complexity: Playing Chess While the Rules Keep Changing

We were delighted to host Laura Kester, Requirements Engineering expert at Infotech at Chalmers University of Technology for an engaging session with ACM Women Chapter Gothenburg members and faculty.

Her talk, “Navigating Complexity: Playing Chess While the Rules Keep Changing,” offered a thought-provoking perspective on decision-making in complex software projects. Drawing on the analogy of chess puzzles, Laura highlighted how navigating uncertainty requires avoiding oversimplification and focusing on incremental, reversible steps rather than seeking perfect solutions.

The session sparked rich discussions around complexity, adaptability, and effective decision-making in dynamic environments, highly relevant themes for both academia and industry.
